Founder Dakota McLeod discovered his passion for beading at 16 when he attended a workshop with his mother. What started as a hobby soon grew into an online store offering high-quality beads and kits. In February 2021, that passion became a reality with the opening of a physical store in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
As a proud Métis artist and entrepreneur, Dakota celebrates the rich history of Métis beadwork. The Métis are a culture known for their intricate floral beadwork, often called “The Flower Beadwork People” for the signature five-petal flowers that set their designs apart from other Indigenous styles.
Beyond the store, Dakota is dedicated to sharing the art of beadwork with the community. He supplies beads and kits to schools and community groups and runs hands-on beading classes in his shop, welcoming creators of all skill levels to learn, connect, and keep this vibrant art form alive.
